Your support is critical to Booker T. Washington Academy’s success. Though we receive state charter school funding, we depend on our community to contribute additional, much needed funds to give our students the enrichment they need to become lifelong learners and active community members. There are many ways that you can be of support to us:
The Great Give
The Booker T. Washington Academy Family has an opportunity to raise up to $20,000 by participating in the Great Give. The on-line giving contest creates an opportunity for BTWA to earn up to $15,000 in matching dollars from the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven. Here’s how it works: If each family can commit to encouraging at least 3 reliable people to give at least $5 to BTWA, then we can win the grand prize for “most givers,” which earns a matching award of $15,000 from CFGNH. Last school year, BTWA earned the 2ndplace prize for largest increase in giving over the prior year. For our efforts, we received a matching gift of $5000, bringing our total to $10,384. The funds from last year were used to purchase additional Chromebooks for classrooms.
This year, each member of our staff has committed to getting at least 7 reliable people to give. The combined effort of staff and parents can yield as many as 1200 gifts for BTWA. Any funds raised will be used to enrich your child’s classroom learning experience.
Together, we can make BTWA the most giving school in New Haven.

Join a network of individuals and organizations whose generous yearly gifts aid many aspects of our work. It supports our scholars access to digital libraries, enables our teachers to take class trips, and supports expenses associated with our extended day activities- the before and after-school tutoring programs, and summer programming. It helps us further our mission to provide an education as diverse as our students. It helps us develop scholars who “work hard, get smart”. Scholars who are thinkers, problem-solvers, and prepared to successfully compete in the global marketplace.

Matching Gifts
Many local employers match their employees’ charitable gifts. Check with your employers’ Human Resources Department to see if a matching gift program is in place. In many cases, your gift to the Booker T. Washington Academy will be doubled! A quick phone call can make a huge difference!!
In-Kind Donations
We are a growing school, and welcome in-kind goods and services that can aid our instructional program, improve our access to and use of technology for both our students and our staff, or beautify our building among other things.
