“Nothing ever comes to one, that is worth having, except as a result of hard work.” — Booker T. Washington, founder of Tuskegee University
At Booker T. Washington Academy, we prepare our scholars for college and beyond through a mission inspired by Booker T. Washington’s credo : Excellence is doing common things in uncommon ways.
We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and challenging learning environment with the aim of producing responsible and productive citizens prepared to successfully compete in the global marketplace. Thus, The Booker T. Washington Academy has three overarching goals for its scholars :
Academic : To ensure that every one of our scholars has the capacity to read, write, think, discuss and problem solve, and ensure that these transferable skills are effectively utilized to achieve their college and career objectives.
Citizenship : To embrace the ten character virtues that make up our Keys To Success (Responsibility, Perseverance, Respect, Kindness, Truth, Citizenship, Courage, Self-Discipline, Fairness, and True Friendship). And, to demonstrate their grasp in behavior and action.
Purpose : To adopt the philosophy of Booker T. Washington, specifically as it relates to the importance of hard work, the value of a quality education, and a commitment to giving back to one’s community.
We believe that developing strong moral character in our students is a path to their success in school and in life. The school plan includes many features, which will enable our students to meet world-class standards in reading, mathematics, and writing, citizenship and leadership.
