Applying to BTWA
BTWA is a tuition-free, open-enrollment, public, state charter school. Students are admitted using The School Choice Placement System (formerly called “The Lottery”) through New Haven Public Schools Choice & Enrollment Office. Although preference is given to siblings, and students who reside in the Newhallville & Dixwell neighborhoods in New Haven, students from across the city and surrounding areas are always welcome to apply via:
#1) Paper Application
New Haven residents must apply for admission through the School Choice Placement Office. Applications are available in the School Choice Guide, which is distributed in January/February at the district office, at the Open Choice Fairs, and at our Open House events. Once completed, the paper application must be submitted by the specified deadline to : New Haven Public Schools / Choice Placement Office 54 Meadow Street, First Floor New Haven, CT 06519
#2) Online Application
The online application is by far the fastest, most expedient way to apply. District registration is required for New Haven families. This online application is available directly on The School Choice Placement System website. The online application has a strict closing date, which will be posted when the process opens for the 2017 application period. Families residing in surrounding towns can enroll directly to our school. Download the application (BTWA Enrollment Form 2017), and submit in-person, via fax or email. Please note, we are currently only accepting kindergarten and 1st grade applications for the 2017-2018 school year.
